Events at ABWE
Throughout the year ABWE hosts seminars and conferences to facilitate global missions. These events are for missionaries, pastors, students and individuals interested in missions.
Candidate Seminar
Candidate Seminar is held at the ABWE International Administration and Training Center in Harrisburg, PA. All candidates for career missionary service are required to attend.
ME Conference
Held annually in July on the campus of Messiah College in Grantham, PA, the Missionary Enrichment Conference is intended for all pre-field, retired and furloughing missionaries. The goal is to provide for missionaries a week of Bible preaching, seminars for honing ministry skills and fellowship with colleagues. A number of volunteers come to help with programming for children and teens and general logistics assistance.
Medical Missions Interface
Held in June, the Medical Missions Interface is a three-day conference for medical professionals and others who are interested in learning how medical ministries support evangelism and church planting around the world.
Pastors Consultation on World Evangelism
Held twice each year in the spring and fall, the Pastors Consultation is designed to provide interchange between a group of pastors, mission administrators and missionaries. ABWE is committed to nurturing the critical partnership between churches and the mission agency.
Student Missions Forum
Mobilization provides this annual two-day conference for college students interested in pursuing missions as a career. The students hear from mission administrators and missionaries as they look at culture, language, ministry, education and other missions-related issues. The forum is open to all college students – both from Christian colleges and state universities.
Edge Seminars
Missionaries who live overseas do not generally have opportunities to attend conferences to hone their ministry skills as do North American missionaries, pastors and church workers. ABWE provides Edge Seminars to expose missionaries to current evangelical leaders and trends in missions to expand their understanding and give them new insight for increased effectiveness in ministry.
Global Consultation for Theological Education
ABWE has many theological institutions in various countries of the world, including institutes in local churches that offer basic Bible degrees, seminaries and Bible colleges. Every year missionary educators gather for a conference to examine current trends in theological education and to seek ways to make theological education available in all parts of the world.
