Give to ABWE's Work

ABWE Christmas Projects 2008

With Christmas right around the corner, our thoughts go to helping others. You may be thinking about an individual gift or maybe you’re thinking about how your church, Sunday school class, or prayer group could give something special.

For your convenience, we have compiled a list of projects of all sizes in various countries throughout the world. Click on the links below and you will see a description of the projects in the selected country. Each project has a link to the Give page. Maybe you are not able to financially support a project at this time. Please remember that PRAYER support is vital to winning souls for Jesus Christ. You may want to consider “adopting” a project to pray for throughout 2009.

A 12 passenger van in needed to transport missionaries and guests to/from the airport and also to transport visiting teams to the different stations in Bangladesh. The cost would be about $20,000.00

William Carey Free School – Chittagong (contact person – Peni Howder) 0719101-001 This is a school that provides an education for the children living in the slums of Chittagong. The children come to school 5 days a week and learn the basics of reading, writing, math, health, and general life skills. The students also get to hear about God's great love for them through the moral education classes. The school provides all the books, uniforms, bags, and school supplies for the students as the parents cannot afford to purchase these things. The children do pay a token fee of 8 cents per month to indicate their committment to attend the school.

This year all the students should receive new school bags as the ones they are using now are getting quite ratty looking. $300 should purchase bags for all the students. The cost of sending a child to the school for a whole year is $180. If anyone wants to help send a child to school this year, that would be great, too.

Brazil

Books for Brazilians

Give to this Project Online   Contact Donna Knight

Enable national believers to acquire reference or resource materials, including Bibles, at a reduced rate by taking advantage of bulk purchasing and/or subsidizing part of the cost. In addition to strict inventory and accounting practices, all funds collected in administering the program are recycled back into the project. Books for Brazil will continue as long as the LORD provides the context and resources.

The Story of Hope and Way to Joy Books

Give to this Project Online   Contact Tim & Martia Franklin

We'd rejoice in a gift of $2,000, to allow us subidize sale of the "The Story of Hope" and "The Way to Joy". This would make those wonderful books available to many more churches. We don't have any rich congregations on the Field, and would be thrilled to be able to distribute this blessed literature more broadly. We pray that God might honor this request.

Papua New Guinea

Goroka Baptist Bible College

Give to this Project Online   Contact Julianne Beard

Goroka Baptist Bible College students start a 5 week school break. During these next five weeks our students need to earn about $4,500 in outstanding school fees to return to school on August 25, 2008. Some students owe as little as $0, while others for various reasons owe as much as $300. Please pray that God will enable them to find work that will provide the necessary income. Pray that God will give each of them the grace and the faith to trust Him for this miracle in their lives. Pray that God will raise up people who can help by either providing work or funds to cover them working to pay their school bills. Most of the students have the desire to work but lack the opportunity to do so. Some churches have work that the students can do but are unable to pay them.

If you want to know more about this need or would like to help, check out the website below and help through the website. GBBC Student Needs.

Rotodisk needed for Goroka Baptist Bible College - $5,000. This is needed to help our staff prepare gardens for our students’ food.

14 additional water tanks needed for Goroka Baptist Bible College. We need to raise money to buy 10 (ten) 1000 liter Tuffa Tanks for each of the individual married student houses, and 4 (four) 1000 gallon Tuffa Tanks for the cook houses (3 married cookhouses and girl's dorm cookhouse). They estimate the 1000 liter ones will cost about $500 each to install (10 = $5000); the 1000 gallon ones will cost about $1250 each (4= $5000). The total for this new tank project is $10,000. This allows us to greatly increase our water storage capacity during the rainy season so our students will have plenty of water during the dry season.

Scholarship Funds for ABTS Students

Give to this Project Online   Contact Julianne Beard

Scholarship funds for ABTS students. Asia Baptist Theological Seminary Students’ Scholarship-(contact Bill Smith wsmith@abwe.cc). We have 17 pastors involved in our Master’s level seminary program. We fly professors in twice a year to give these fine men a seminary education. We only provide an undergraduate program here at Goroka Baptist Bible College. The students pay about $35 per course, and for many this is a major sacrifice. These fees do not cover all of the expenses of this program. We need to raise about $2000 per year to continue to offer this program. We anticipate this group of men will graduate in 2010. Total need to complete this program is about $8,000.

Paraguay

Paraguay Field Team

Give to this Project Online   Contact Paul D. Fields

The Paraguay Field Team is excited about the Good Soil evangelism and discipleship materials that have been developed by ABWE. We have received an estimate to print the 7" X 10" 40 page discipleship booklet in full color here in Paraguay. The cost is $2.10 per copy if 1,000 are ordered. This tool will be used immediately to begin discipleship with new believers.

Philippines

Helping Asians Reach Asia (HARA)

Give to this Project Online   Contact Julianne Beard

STIR Asia Associates are bi-vocational missionaries serving in the Creative Access Nations of Asia. They serve where traditional missionaries cannot. However, like all missionaries, they must study the language of their host country. Most Filipinos are very good language learners but often do not have the necessary funds to enroll in a language program and so do not get a good hold of the language at the beginning of their missionary career. Filipino missionaries serving with STIR Asia need approximately $1,000 to complete the initial fulltime language study requirement.

Romania

Romania Translation Ministry

Give to this Project Online   Contact Mike Rummey

Due to the lack of solid, comprehensive Sunday school curriculum in Romania, our team decided to have the Junior Sunday school curriculum from Regular Baptist Press translated into Romanian. This curriculum takes the student through the Bible in a four year cycle and also helps the teachers prepare a well balanced lesson for their students. We are in need of $10,000 to finish this project.

Ukraine

Ukraine Leadership Training (CMI)

Give to this Project Online   Contact John Taylor

Current CMI projects are listed on the CMI web site – cmieurasia.org – under Giving / Special Projects.

Since CMI classes are held in a variety of locations throughout Eurasia, we need to develop small Russian-language libraries for each of our five regional training centers. That way students will have access to a resource center closer to where they study, rather than coming to our central resource center in Odessa, Ukraine. The estimated cost is $3,000 per center (600 books), for a total of $15,000.

As the CMI relocates its International Training Center following the fire of 2005, we need to replace the main server. The estimated cost of this project is $2,000.

Every year, the CMI organizes a number of conferences. The annual CMI conference, held in December of each year, gathers most of our faculty and directors from several regions of Eurasia for a time of training, evaluation and sharing. We would also like to organize a pastors’ conference in each of five regions annually to provide continual learning for our CMI alumni and church leaders. The estimated cost of each conference is $3,000, for a total of $18,000.

CMI Training Center – Building Fire

Give to this Project Online

We will also need additional funds to pay for renovations of the new CMI International Training Center (ITC) in Odessa. The current estimate for renovations is $62,000 ($52,000 plus a $10,000 contingency), although we have not purchased the property yet, and that figure may change depending on the area that needs to be renovated. This new ITC will replace the old one which was damaged in the fire, and will be used as the CMI’s central office, providing space for administration, external relations, faculty development, student support, a large resource center, technical support, curricular support, continuing education, and planning.

Camp Paradise Recife

Give to this Project Online   Contact Donna Knight

We have some unique projects that are fun for a church, Sunday school class, youth group, AWANA program or other small groups to raise funds for Camp Paradise. We are designing an "Adventure Week" at camp and need to purchase the following items here in the States. We hope to send a container down to Brazil in June/July 2009. However, we need to receive the funds before we can purchase these things. The following items are some things that are needed with an estimated cost for each:
