The goal of these annual educational and training seminars is to expose ABWE missionaries and personnel, supporting churches, and friends and partners of ABWE to the best Bible-believing missionary educators and trainers of our generation—to the end that we all will be nudged to the cutting edge of missions ministry. 2009 Edge Seminars, May 18-22
Carol Kent—Speak Up with Confidence (May 18)
Carol's vibrant personality and joyful spirit make her one of the most in-demand female Christian communicators today. She is the author of When I Lay My Isaac Down and Kisses of Sunshine. Thousands of people have improved their public speaking skills by participating in her Speak Up With Confidence seminar.
Harold Netland—Pluralism in World Religions (May 19-20)
Dr. Netland is a professor of philosophy of religion and intercultural studies at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL. Prior to his tenure at Trinity, he was a missionary in Japan. He is the author of several works, including Encountering Religious Pluralism: The Challenge of Christian Faith and Missions.
Don A. Carson—Confronting Pluralism with the Bible's Plot-Line (May 21-22)
Dr. D.A. Carson is the author or editor of about 50 books, including The Gagging of God: Christianity Confronts Pluralism. This seminar will be based upon the concepts expounded in chapters five and six of that book. His focus will be on training missionaries to teach the Bible's plotline (metanarrative) in order to evangelize people from pluralistic worldview cultures.
